How and where I started table tennis
I started playing table tennis when I was 4 years old in Poland.
Coaches which support and inspire me
My mother worked there as a coach and I was always with her. She is my the only one coach in my life and with the father they are persons who inspire me in table tennis.
Training sessions
I practice every day and several times during the week I have gym sessions.
My aims
My aim for this season is to play in high level during all competitions. I have some dreams and goals, but I will keep it with me. ;-)
"My career highlight?" Margaryta Pesotska giggles and answers: "I hope that’s yet to come."
The Ukrainian met with success a couple of times, she won three medals in women’s singles at the European Championships, reaching the final twice, in 2009 and 2018.
Yet, she is just 29, the best age for a table tennis pro, and she still has big goals. Hard work, ambition and discipline helped her reach the top class of European players again quickly after a baby break (from 2016 until September 2017).
Her style of play might seem unimposing at first sight. Margaryta Pesotska’s topspins aren’t particularly powerful, and her footwork isn’t as fast as some teenagers’. But she does exactly know what to do to make life extremely difficult for her opponents.
Variability is her greatest power, her ability to adapt to the opponent. "I love to change spin and speed, and when necessary, I play counterattack and shot." To effect precise placements of the ball, Margaryta Pesotska chose the appropriate equipment. Her wood is a DONIC Persson S7, her rubbers are DONIC Desto F1 in 2.0 mm – somewhat unusual for an international top player.
"To me DONIC means reliability. I need a lot of control for my style of play and this is what my racket guarantees."
However, perfect control is the premise for her style of play. Over and over again she involves her opponents in long rallies, where every ball of her is placed absolutely accurate.
Her way of playing fits with her personality. Margaryta Pesotska ist not the happy-go-lucky type taking everything easy. "I am a responsible, optimistic and polite person" is her answer when asked about her character traits. And with this she fits in with the DONIC family very well.
