How and where I started table tennis
I started to play when I was 6 years old in my hometown Koszalin. My father took me to one table tennis hall and I started to practice there.
Coaches which support and inspire me
I had few coaches in my career. My first coach Marcin Marczak who support me when I was young. My national coach Tomasz Krzeszewski. And 3 coaches from my Bundesliga time Dubravko Skoric, Dima Mazunov and Fu Yong. All of them they had a big impact in my game.
Training sessions per week (Table Tennis, Fitness and others)
Eight hours a day table tennis, two to three hours fitness and one hour other activities.
My aims
I would like to qualify for the Olympics, get the medal in the European Table Tennis Championships and win the title in the Polish League.
He is warm-hearted and enthusiastic, attentive and polite. Most people like Jakub Dyjas at first sight. The 25-year-old Pole met with success early, as a cadet he won a silver medal at the European Youth Championships in 2010. Throughout all these years he always stayed modest.
However, his style of play is not reserved at all. Jakub attacks hard-line from both backhand and forehand, especially his spectacular backhand topspin has tremendous penetrating power.
His excellent services help him to prepare his powerful topspins, and his racket is the ideal weapon to do so: Jakub plays backhand DONIC Bluestorm PRO and forehand DONIC Bluestorm Z1 Turbo on a Dyjas Ultra Power wood (blade).
"To me DONIC means dependability."
Quite a few world class players had to struggle hard and almost stumbled playing against him in the last couple of years, although Jakub Dyjas also missed some chances for big wins, for example against Timo Boll. Dimitrij Ovtcharov on the other hand learned how tough it is to play against the young Pole: At the European Championship 2016, Dyjas beat the defending champion, in the end winning a bronze medal in singles and silver in doubles.
Thanks to his courageous and risky style, Dyjas is a dangerous opponent for every top player. He proved that for many years in the German Bundesliga before he returned to Poland, where the young father, married to Marta Golota, a table tennis professional, too, is now playing for KS Dzialdowo.
His goals for 2021? To qualify for the Olympics, another medal at the European Championships and winning the Polish Championship with his team. The latter shows his team spirit, being perfectly in line with the DONIC family, to which he belongs for many years.
