Les Loups d’Angers
Les Loups d’Angers: The Wolves Are Hunters and the Hunted
This is where tradition meets the modern world. Les Loups d'Angers, a member of the French 1st division for 22 years without interruption, belong on one hand to the most traditional table tennis clubs in the country.
On the other hand, the Wolves also stand for the future like only a few other clubs. In Angers, which has been a partner club of DONIC for 14 years, youth work is very important. With Nathan Pilard, son of DONIC contract coach David Pilard, the Wolves have a young French talent who is also supported by DONIC. 230 members and a strong, dynamic training group characterize the club, where disabled sports are also played at the highest level: Matéo Bohéas, silver medallist at the Paralympics, is also part of the DONIC family.
In Angers, they are already working hard to become even better in future. A new, very modern hall is scheduled to be finished in 2022, one of the most modern table tennis halls in France, which will certainly contribute to the positive development of the club.
So, club president Gérard Sarazin has every reason to look ahead with proud and optimism. But Sarazin is also thinking about something else. After considerable international successes – among other things, Les Loups d’Angers reached the semi-finals of the Champions League twice and won the ETTU Cup in 2008 – the team managed a triumph in the French national championships for the first time in 2021 after many unsuccessful attempts. So, it's clear: In season 2021/22, the Wolves themselves, who have been so used to go on the prowl, will this time be the hunted, too.
