Luxembourg
Well done, partner!
Luxembourg is one of the smallest countries in Europe, and yet it plays a remarkable role in world table tennis. How is that possible, considering the fact that the number of inhabitants is just about the same as the one of Stuttgart (Germany), on an area of the size of the Saarland (small federal state in South West of Germany)?
Of course, diligence, persistence and discipline play a role. Good coaches are essential, but so are a number of other factors. Strong partners, for example. "The world table tennis brand DONIC has been the exclusive equipment supplier of the Luxembourg table tennis federation (FLTT) since 2002", says the president André Hartmann, who still well remembers the beginnings of the cooperation: "We owe this cooperation to Mr. Karlheinz Schreiner, the former managing director of DONIC, as well as the current managing director Frank Schreiner."
"Friendship, respect, loyalty and professionalism are the basis for our successful partnership."
It is exactly this somewhat, in the best sense of the word, old-fashioned attitude that corresponds exactly to the spirit that also prevails at DONIC: reliability and respect are the basis for any good partnership, loyalty and professionalism have always been practised at DONIC. And in some cases, over the years, business relationships which are based on the same values have also developed into friendly relationships.
For example, with the Swedish legends Jan-Ove Waldner and Jörgen Persson, but also with representatives of the Luxembourg federation: Karlheinz Schreiner, founder of DONIC, used to work as a coach in Luxembourg. Among his protégés at that time was a young player named André Hartmann, who had been a national player in Luxembourg for many years...
"We are particularly proud to be part of the DONIC story of success."
Any ambitious player who plays with enthusiasm knows how close friendships in sports can become and how much trust can be built up. In case of Karlheinz Schreiner and André Hartmann, a bond has been created that has lasted beyond the death of the company's founder.
DONIC and Luxembourg have been partners for almost 20 years now. The active players of this small country have rewarded the confidence of their long-time equipment supplier again and again with top sporting performances. Luxembourg's ladies, especially Ni Xia Lian and Sarah de Nutte, listed in the world rankings on positions 43 and 75 (as of August 2021), are even among the European top and were both qualified for the individual competition at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. An amazing success for such a small association, which DONIC appreciates accordingly.
The traditional German company has always been the equipment supplier of numerous World Champions and top stars, but to this day, they have also kept a sharp eye for the achievements of those athletes and associations who are not able to play at the very top. The smaller partners appreciate this accordingly.
